The South Island Ministry Conference due to be held on Tuesday 12th - Thursday 14th May 2020 has been cancelled.

We are experiencing unprecedented times due to Covid-19.  Guided by the Minister of Health’s announcement restricting indoor gatherings to less than 100 people, the confirmation from our keynote speakers Michael Ramsden and Sam Allberry that they are unable to travel to New Zealand and knowing that this is a time for all of us to concentrate on what God is calling us to do in our local communities to show Christ’s compassion, care and salvation, we have made the disappointing decision to cancel Ministry Conference 2020.

We are trusting that God will be at work in these days in surprising ways.  We believe that God can work for good even in troubled times like this.  Imagine the new things God could teach us about being the church (when we can’t have our normal Sunday services).  What if all of our small groups and personal pastoral support grew stronger.  People who have to self-isolate might discover a new simplicity of life and have time to ask the big questions about life and faith.  God might create new opportunities for us to show Christ’s love and care to people in our community.  Rodney Stark’s book “The Rise of Christianity” describes the way Christianity grew despite the plagues of the early centuries.  Imagine if that happened again.

Over the next few difficult months in ministry, let’s keep in touch and support one another as we all work towards our common goal.

Every blessing as you serve Christ in these unusual days.

If you have already paid for conference, David Yates will be in touch about refunding your payment.
